Beyond recognition for individual skills, three ranks can be achieved in SkillsHacker: Apprentice, Journeyer, and Master. Again, each rank reflects the complexity of the skills demonstrated, so one might be a Master (Basic), a Master (Advanced), or a Master (Pro). As additional complexity is mastered, one might simultaneously be, for instance, a Master (Basic) and an Apprentice (Advanced).
Apprentice
The Apprentice rank requires recognition for one skill from each domain. Click here to view the Apprentice Rank requirements in more detail.
Journeyer
The Journeyer rank requires recognition for Hygiene, Money, Cooking, one more Home-Care skill, and First Aid. If any of these were already earned for the Apprentice rank, then another skill from that domain should be earned instead. Click here to view the Journeyer Rank requirements in more detail.
Master
The Master rank requires:
- Recognition for 20 skills must be earned, with at least 3 from each domain. Skills recognized must include Decision Making, Self-Advocacy, Paperwork, and Cleaning a Bathroom.
- A housing workbook must be completed (downloadable from http://autismhousingpathways.net/autism-housing-pathways-issues-housing-workbooks). Individuals without disabilities completing Master (Pro) should complete the workbook written at the 8th grade reading level OR an alternative approved by their SkillsHacker coach, such as Pestalozzi, Tina, Life Skills 101: A Practical Guide to Leaving Home and Living on Your Own, Perfect Paperback, 2016.
